All these ATCs have been cut with a
Coluzzle Template. After taking a mini demo with Anne Thomson from
Victoria BC, in February 2007, I got motivated to use them again. I had
bought several templates years ago, tried them and then shoved them away
because I didn't like the way they worked. Well needless to say I just
wasn't using them right...
Also, Suzanne from Quietfire Design posed
a question. Have I ever stamped using Pentel Color Brushes. Well the
answer was NO. So I pulled out my brushes (I have all the colors,
they're glorious, and I use them for calligraphy and other art related
things but never for stamping).

This is the first one I made thinking that with a cut
out I should make a booklet style. I rubber stamped an Asian Text stamp
(Old Island #532) over white cardstock with Brilliance Graphite Black
Dew Drops stamp pad, masking the area for the Asian lady. I rubber
stamped the Asian Lady (Lost Angeles Rubber Works "ukiyo-e woman)
with olive Dew Drops stamp pad and selectively put Stampendous Amethyst,
Gold Detail & Detail Black embossing powders. Heat set. Used the
Coluzzle Long Oval nested template to cut out my opening and trimmed
around the lady. Used Distress stamp pads (Tattered Rose & Tea Dyed)
to color the white cardstock. Mounted it onto purple cardstock
For the inside (pic @ right), I used a beautiful
white pearlized textured paper and cut an oval a little larger than the
front opening and glued it to the inside. Rubber stamped the Asian
symbol for Long Life (Prairie Rubber Stamps) and gold embossed it, wrote
in the words "Long Life" with a purple Zig marker. The quote
around the oval is done with a micron black pen.

a miracle. Every cubic inch of space is a miracle. Walt Whitman

Coluzzle - Flower Oval
Detail
|
I rubber stamped the flower (Time To Stamp
"Flowers & Leaves" sheet) using Pentel Color Brushes
(Steel Blue & Orange), misted the air above the stamp with water
very lightly, checked to make sure my stamp wasn't over saturated, and
stamped my image onto Arches 140lb CP watercolor paper. (TIP: DO NOT
SQUEEZE THE COLOR BRUSH. It should be on the dryer side, just moist and
use on the flat of the brush skimming over the surface rather than
painting with the tip) Merged the
colors with a water brush mixed with 50/50 water and iridescent
medium.
|
Used my nested long oval template and cut around the
flower. Colored the rest of the front with Twinkles H2o's (Cinnamon Brown,
Cedar Wood & Burnt Umber). Added my thermal embossed dots in copper on
each corner (mimics round brads). Mounted it onto bright yellow cardstock.
The detail pic above shows the stamped image before blending the colors with
the water brush.

Again I used my color brushes (Orange & a
dirty Yellow/Orange) and an Asian symbol for "Beleive"
(Prairie Rubber Stamps) on white cardstock. Outlined the image with a
Sakura Bronze Stardust gel pen. Used my Coluzzle star template to cut
out the opening. Outlined the star with a dark blue Zig marker. Added
blue star brads to the corners and mounted it onto gold metallic
cardstock.
|
Same Asian stamp for "Believe" and used color
brushes (Yellow/Orange & Light Green) on white cardstock. Edged the card
with a Krylon gold leafing pen. Outlined the image with a Sakura Green
Stardust gel pen. Used my Coluzzle nested long oval template to cut out the
opening. Mounted it onto a gold star embossed blue paper (Quietfire Design),
then onto dark blue cardstock
