January 1, 2007:
I've been playing with alcohol inks and having fun with them. The frame on each of this is from the same piece of glossy paper and I used the Adirondack Miner's lantern set (rust, stonewashed & pitch black) as well as some mixative gold and lots of blender. I really love this combination of colors. I cut out a rectangular frame shape and pasted it on top of the paper for my quote. The first  one is done on blue cardstock with black  micron pen, the second on black glossy paper and Dr martin's Bleed Proof White ink and a script nib, and the third is done on gold vellum and a black micron pen.
All of them were mounted onto gold cardstock.

Quote: Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any other thing.

Heart Is Pure (unavailable)

January 2:
This heart is another combination of alcohol inks (Pinata Chili Pepper, Adirondack Denim, mixative gold and lots of blender. I cut out my large heart with a tab to fit through the ribbon slots of a  heart, folded it and wrote my quote with a medium point black micron pen. Rubber stamped the word "Heart" with MSE clear heart alphabet stamps using Brilliance Dew Drops Rust and Stampendous gold Detail embossing powder. Heat set. The shadow outlined it with the micron pen. Glued it to my Gold cardstock. On the front I I lightly tinted my white cardstock with Rocket Red Gold stamp pad and glued a piece of mulberry with red paper heart inclusions. Wrote my words with a red Zig marker. Glued on my Ribbon heart and backed it with a gold ribbon heart. Added my heart brads, puffy heart and heart tack. Edged the gold cardstock with a red Peel-Offs permanent marker.
I used a scrapbook paper for the base and wrote my words with a Magic Color purple ink and a script nib. (scrapbook paper is not good for inks, it bleeds, I forgot that). I shadow outlined the word Heart with Dr martin's Brass ink. Added a ribbon heart from my alcohol paper and used a piece of pearlized mauve cardstock to mimic satin ribbon. Wrote my words with a purple micron pen ("My heart is pure, my brain corrupt"). Mounted it on gold cardstock.

Both have the same quote

Quote: If I create with the heart nearly everything works, if from the brain almost nothing.

January 3:
I used Joanne's technique for a background.

I diluted some acrylic paints about 50% H2o/paint (DecoArt Dazzling Metallics Emperor's Gold, Delta Ceramcoat Mexicana (rust) & Avalon (blue). I misted a piece of cheap paper towel, scrunched it up and dipped parts of it in the various colors, squeezed the colors more with my hands, opened the towel up and re-scrunched and re-dipped. Then opened it again (I made a monoprint from it on copy paper, but I'm not that happy with that yet) then dried it with my hair dryer. Skimmed the paper with a clear embossing stamp bad and sprinkled Stampendous Kaleidescope embossing powder (I love this effect on this color combination). Wrote my words with a black micron pen (was a little difficult on the background paper). Mounted the background onto gold cardstock. I lightly sanded my gold cardstock so I could write  on it without bubbles.

Quote: If you're having difficulties coming up with new ideas Slow Down. For me slowing down has been a tremendous source of creativity. it has allowed me to know that there's life under the earth and that I have to let it come through me in a new way. Creativity exists in the present moment. You can't find it anywhere else.

January 4:
These backgrounds were made with Magic Colors and a touch of Lumiere Gold. I put wavy lines of color down on a piece of Disposable Palette paper, first some gold, then the magic Color (Astral Yellow, Earth Brown & Omega Orange) you don't need a lot since they are liquid colors, spritz with a bit of water and then another piece of disposable palette on top. Colors were mushed around between the papers until the whole paper was covered, then the papers separated by whipping them apart (I made a monoprint with copy paper, but didn't really like the results yet). Then a piece of glossy paper or cardstock (glossy side down) on top of your concoction and again whipped apart.  I used the edge of my glossy paper for these backgrounds.  I wrote the quotes with a black micron pen. Mounted them onto gold cardstock

They all have the same quote

Quote: If you hear a voice saying "you are not a painter" then by all means paint... and the voice will be silenced.

January 5:
These backgrounds were made with Magic Colors as well and a touch of Lumiere Gold. I put wavy lines of color down on a piece of Disposable Palette paper, first some gold, then the magic Color (Chiffon Green, Grecian Olive & Gamma Green) you don't need a lot since they are liquid colors, spritz with a bit of water and then another piece of disposable palette on top. Colors were mushed around between the papers until the whole paper was covered, then the papers separated by whipping them apart. Then a piece of glossy paper or cardstock (glossy side down) on top of your concoction and again whipped apart.  I rubber stamped a tree (Old Island #117C) with Brilliance dew drop Graphite Black and then sprinkled Stampendous Pearl Lustre Peridot embossing powder, heat set. Wrote my quotes on the front with a black micron pen. The inside of the "Trees Speak" quote was done with a script nib and my own mix of a couple Magic Color greens. They were all mounted onto gold cardstock.

Quotes

Trees Speak:
The beauty of the trees, the softness of the air, the fragrance of the grass, speaks to me. The summit of the mountain, the thunder of the sky, speaks to me. The faintness of teh stars, the trail of the sun, the strength of fire, and life that never goes away, they speak to me. And my heart soars. Chief Dan George

Knowing Trees:
Knowing trees I understand the meaning of patience. Knowing grass I can appreciate persistence. Hal Borland

Good Timber:
Good timber does not grow with ease, the stronger the wind, the stronger the tres. J Willard Marriott
