"Canvas ATCs (May 2007)

All these ATCs start off with a piece of 10oz unprimed canvas and use the "New Rubber" from Suzanne (Quietfire Design "Italic Caps" stamp sheet) as the main letter for each word using Brilliance Dew Drops "Graphite Black" and re-inking the pad with "Starlite Black" gives me a really nice color. I outlined the Cap and wrote the rest of the word with FW Acrylic Ink "Black India". "Jungle" is the only one that is the "odd man out" . I painted the canvas with various colors of gouache. Added some black vertical lines with a micron pen. Used a flat edge watercolor brush to do my "J" and shadow outlined it with the micron pen. Stitched around the canvas with purple thread and mounted it onto a deep rose cardstock. |
The rest of the ATC's: I started off with a larger piece of canvas and sprayed it with diluted color wash, "Butterscotch" & "Raisin", walnut ink, & Moon Glows "Golden Doubloon", some iridescent medium and water. While the canvas was wet I used the tip of a paint brush to add Luminarte Powdered paint "Nutmeg" "Olive Vine" & Shimmer Gold". When dry, cut up the canvas into ATC sized pieces. After stamping and lettering, I used my sewing machine to do some detail work. A golden orange satin stitch, following the lines of paint. I also added a line of Stickles "Gold" and a fancy button (shank removed) using Golden's soft gel medium. Each ATC was bordered with thread in either green, purple or gold to prevent unraveling of the canvas and then mounted onto colored cardstock. |
