Crackle

These ATC's start with a crackle background done on white cardstock. I colored the cardstock with Distress stamp pads (Aged Mahogany, Walnut Stain, Black Soot), when dry, applied a layer of deco Art Crackle Medium. Let that dry. Note if there is a lot of humidity use a fan to dry the medium or fan your paper back and forth (which is what I did for about 15 minutes while I was working on something else - one handed). DO NOT USE A HEAT GUN OR HAIR DRYER. When dry, on half the sheet I put a layer of Rheotech gesso and the other half a layer of Folk Art acrylic paint "Rose White". Let that dry thoroughly. When dry layered glazes of craft Metallic acrylic paint (Folk Art; Metallic Inca Gold, Metallic Blue Topaz, Rose Shimmer, Copper. From Deco Art; Metallics Glorious Gold).

Some also have some distressed metal pieces. On the textured ones, that was a happy accident. I thought I'd try using a stylus and a rubber stamp (in this case the small flourish from Quietfire Design), to emboss my design. Well it gave me very soft lines rather than crisp embossed lines, not what I was expecting. But when I looked at the texture that it created, I really liked that, so continued with the distressing aspect of vinegar and salt for a couple days. Sanding the high points and then putting a layer of Dorland's wax and buffing gently. The flat pieces went through my Cuttlebug with an embossing folder and then cut down to size. Same distressing and finishing as above.

Adhered the metal piece using Golden's extra heavy gel medium and then adding a brad. Mounted it all to a Stone Washed cardstock which I sanded lightly. Punched out the gecko from some brown leatherette cardstock. Words done with a black micron pen.

This was done with the Rheotech gesso

I used a BossKut "Corner Scroll" die through my Cuttlebug with some metallic paper (Zyroned). Used both the negative and positive pieces and a little curl I cut off the main scroll (too big for my ATC. Added a rhinestone to the faux flower. Mounted it all onto a deep purple cardstock. Wrote in the words with a micron pen.

Words: Just a little cracked but still my friend & understood.

This was also done with the Rheotech.

I rubber stamped the Flourish upside down (Inkadinkado "Wellspring") using black Versafine stamp pad. The under cardstock I colored with Pan pastels and rubber stamped the same image and then matched them up when adhering them.

This was done with the Rose White

Only part of this background had the crackle on it, so I had to be a little creative... The bottom corner I used double sided tape and Martha Stewart glitter "Peridot". Added the strip of Metallic green cardstock and two of the copper distressed pieces. Rubber stamped the quote "Each of us" from Quietfire Design with Olympia Green Versafine and clear embossed.

Rubber stamped the flourish ("Wellspring") with a pigment stamp pad and embossed with Queen's Gold. Shadowed it and wrote the words with a black micron pen. Mounted it to a Bling pearl pink cardstock then onto a light green cardstock.
