This week's challenge on Created By Hand was to make Inchies. I've made them once before and said then, "what do you do with them?"... Well it looks like I'm making a bunch of ATC's again.

I have also been playing with crackle mediums, various brands, on various substrates and colored with various product brands. Having a blast and loving the results.

Rubber stamps are by Quietfire Design. "Design Elements" Tile 5pce set; Various quotes and the Dream quote from Mini Images (sometimes called Mini Compilation) Set.

The crackle background was made using Golden's Crackle medium and white cardstock. I tried putting a relatively thin layer with just a few higher areas. It's tricky, because if it's too thin it won't crack (or not something you'll see) and if it's too thick I get big craters which I don't want. And if it's too humid no cracks at all.... So it's suggested to use a fan in humid conditions to speed up the drying time - but NEVER use a hair dryer or heat gun.

And with this background I decided to try using Vivid dye stamp Re-Inkers, a brand I bought eons ago and never use, but thought it might work nice and it did. I dispensed them in a flat tray with several drops of water, glazing layer upon layer and wiping off with a damp sponge until I got what I wanted. Some portions of the first layer was done with "Yellow" and other portions with "Peach" giving a nice base to allow the luminous colors to show through the layers. It's a pity you can't see this in real life, it glows from within. Other colors I used were, Orchid, a touch of Ultramarine (was very intense so diluted even more), Green, & then Coffee Bean. After stamping the inchies on each cut background I put a layer of Golden's Matte Medium, just to make sure my crackle didn't fall off anywhere.

Used my Evolving images ATC Thangs 2nd size up and cut out sections from the background. Rubber stamped the squares using Versafine stamp pad either Vintage Sepia or Black Onyx, then used the same stamp and color on a piece of plain white cardstock to mount with pop dots type adhesive. Both the background rectangles and the inchies were edged with a Krylon Gold Leafing pen. The main ATC cardstock are various shades of brown and rust, each went through my Cuttlebug with an embossing folder appropriate for that Inchy. On 3 of them I also used a Mica stamp pad to color the high points of the embossed images (Gold or Copper)
