"Frida" (January 2007)

Frida

ID: Frida
I've never heard about Frida Kahlo until this theme was suggested. From reading about her life and her painting, she seemed to be a very troubled person who suffered greatly.

I wanted to give a sense of pain, joy, and erratic behavior, so I picked this lime green cardstock as the base. The green juxtaposed with the jagged lines, symbolizes the erratic behavior and her pain. The yellow in her name and the bold font  for "joyful" symbolizes her joy.

The jagged lines are a decorative paper I created and pasted to the card. (details of this technique will be revealed at the end of February with the "ByHand Mystery Stamp. A surprise element happened when creating these jagged lines). I used various font style rub on alphabet letters to write the quote.

The quote is apparently the last entry she put in her diary before her death, either by an embolism in her sleep or some say before finding a way to commit suicide.

Words: "I hope the end is joyful - & I hope never to come back." Frida
